Regret

Sure, there are times when it is better to be cautious and not jump into everything with eyes wide shut. But usually the problem is not the risk, it is that I lack the self-confidence to see myself succeeding at the great task. Self-doubt tries to creep in whenever it can.
I watched the pattern happen over and over again:guy in the glass 2
  1. I’d get an idea
  2. I’d start playing it out in my mind and making plans to execute it.
  3. I’d get really excited about the potential.
  4. I’d think of one possible scenario that would make it not work perfectly.
  5. I’d give up on the idea.
What a sad way to go through this amazing experience we call “life”! Repeated studies have shown that somewhere between 85% and 95% of the things we worry will happen never actually happen. So almost all of our fears are based off of totally false assumptions.
The important point to remember is that it is okay to believe in yourself and it is okay to make a mistake every once in a while. But it is almost always worth it to take the risk in experiencing something new or going after that big goal. It will work out way more times than it will fail.
You never hear of people on their death bed saying, “I wish I would have always made the safer decisions.” Most of them will say, “I wish I had taken more chances. I wish I would have experienced more.”Elderly Advice
Every decision you make throughout the day is a gamble. Everything has some degree of risk to it. If you are going to be betting on something anyway, you might as well bet on yourself.
The honest truth is that if you believe in something with enough passion and you are willing to work hard enough, you truly can accomplish just about anything. Success in life simply boils down to your attitude and your effort.
Take the risk. Bet on yourself. Avoid the regret. Be great today.

SOUL

the spiritual part of a person that is believed to give life to the body and in many religions is believed to live forever
: a person's deeply felt moral and emotional nature
: the ability of a person to feel kindness and sympathy for others, to appreciate beauty and art, etc.

FIGHT FOR RELIGION

In the sweltering summer of 1789, James Madison penned sixteen words in spare prose that became the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Herein the founding fathers of a young government pledged separation of church and state, thus guaranteeing religious freedom for its citizens and establishing a free marketplace for religion in the United States. Utterly unprecedented in Western history, this construction of a government without the interlocking authority of religion set a new course for faith and politics and has produced a vibrant religious culture unmatched anywhere in the world. First Freedom details the progression of religious liberty from pilgrims and Puritans to the creation of the Bill of Rights and how it shaped a new nation. The rich history explored in these pages through exquisite text and rich photographic illustrations increases our knowledge of and gratitude for a nation that protects the free exercise of faith.

CRIME FORCE

The Serbian commander, Dragoljub Kunarac was arrested in 1999 by the ICTY and taken to the Hague along with two other soldiers to be tried for crimes against humanity.
The legal question was whether the acts of these soldiers were crimes against humanity or simply individual acts of depravity. In order to prove that the soldiers' acts were crimes against humanity, the prosecution in the Foca rape case argued three things:
  1. The use of rape in attacks on civilians was widespread and systematic,
  2. To support the allegation that rape was “widespread and systematic” the prosecution worked to show that the tactic was repeated and continuous (systematic) and that what had happened in Foca was a representative sample of Serbian methods of ethnic cleansing in Bosnia (widespread),
  3. Rape was not simply an individual action but involved a chain of command. This did not mean that a commanding officer had ordered his men to rape, but that rape was occurring with his knowledge and he did not intervene to stop it.
The prosecution brought witnesses (whose identities were often concealed for protection) who described grisly ordeals of gang rapes, sexual enslavement and the existence of rape houses or rape camps.
The defense, on the other hand, argued that since the accused had not killed the women they had sex with, the acts should not be taken as a serious crime. Going further, a witness to the trial reported that the defense attorney provoked an audible gasp from the gallery when he concluded that, “The rape itself is not an act that inflicts severe bodily pain.” So, he argued, the victims were not exposed to any severe physical or psychological suffering.

Rape as a Tool of Terror

Rape as a Tool of Terror
The atrocities carried out in the Balkan war made it clear that rape could be used as a tool of terror in a campaign of “ethnic cleansing.” The Serbs sought to carve out a new Republic of Srpska from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the former Yugoslavia (see Figure 1). The goal was to have this new republic “cleansed” of non-Serbian groups. Much of populace of this area of Bosnia and Herzegovina were Muslim.
Figure 1. Proposed Republic of Srpska
One way to get rid of the Muslim population was, of course, to kill people. And this certainly occurred. However, another means of eradicating a particular group from an area was simply to make them leave and never want to come back. For this, terror was needed, and rape became an important tool for terror. In fact, the accounts of rape that traveled from one village to another could be enough to drive people out of an area. Explaining her reason for fleeing the area, one Bosnian woman put it, “Down the road, forty women were raped.”
A woman did not need to be raped herself in order for the terror of rape to be effective.

Amazing Advice on Happiness at 92-years Old

This delightful story was shared with me on Facebook this morning and I wanted to make sure I captured it so I wouldn’t forget about it. Great words of wisdom from an elderly lady. We could all learn something from her:
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window. “I love it,” she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
“Mrs. Jones, you haven’t seen the room …. just wait.”
“That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” she replied. “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged, it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away, just for this time in my life.”
She went on to explain, “Old age is like a bank account, you withdraw from what you’ve put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing.”
And with a smile, she said: “Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less

DIVINE SOURCE

The Universe is living testimony to a mighty Presence of enormous Intelligence that permeates all it has created. In it we live and move and have our being. We are part of it; it is part of us—we cannot be separated from that which created us. This theme has echoed down the ages giving hope to those who struggled to understand the meaning of life. Sometimes corrupted, sometimes lost to sight, nevertheless the theme endures to this very day.

Pulsating within each of us is a spark of this living, divine energy; a spark of our soul. It is a spark of the same consciousness that also has the power to create something as small as a grain of sand or as large as a distant galaxy. Have you experienced its whisperings within your being? Does a mysterious intelligence seem to well up from deep inside you at times?

Your consciousness has no limits if you let it rise above those circumstances that seem to weigh you down. Inspiration and intuition are not haphazard events but come into play when you draw, at willupon this mighty Presence that oversees the souls of humanity. Silent and formless, it does not impose its will on you, but awaits contact with your mind to enable you to bring your true potential into outer reality. This is a phenomenon natural to all human beings who attune with its energy. However, it constantly sends out a call to those who are searching for the deeper meaning of life. Have you heard its call?  Do you know how to connect with this mighty Presence? You connect via your soul or Energy Parent.
There are subtle faculties slumbering just below the surface of your conscious mind awaiting your positive command. They respond to natural law and benefit all who learn to use them. You can use these latent abilities in your daily life and learn how to overcome the “invisible forces” that attempt to sabotage your efforts. Do you want to discover how to live a successful spiritual life, full of peace, harmony, relaxation, successful personal relationships and success in your chosen field of business?

In the far, distant past, as energy began to step down into physical manifestation, there were caused into existence many intelligences that were responsible for bringing human form into existence. These intelligences or souls became known as the parents of the human being, or simply as “Energy Parents.” They are sometimes called the “higher selves” of their human children. Each of these parental intelligences has the ability to draw its human child into communion or communication with itself and in that communion lies the fulfillment of the spiritual needs that humanity is so desperately seeking today. Many of the great Ones have constantly told us that: “The kingdom of heaven is within you.”
The ancients gave the injunction, “Man know thyself,” because if you do this, you will understand the secrets of the universe. Everything is patterned, and if you understand the pattern, you will understand the secret. Hermes Trismegistos, otherwise known as the Egyptian god, Thoth, gave the injunction, “As above, so below.” This is the secret to the pattern.

You might ask, “But how does one get to know the self?” Meditation is a powerful tool you can use to “know thyself” if you understand how to properly harness the true power that meditation offers. But please, don’t make the mistake of thinking you already know what meditation is all about. I’m sorry to say that because of the power of meditation, its practice has been perverted, often distorted, sometimes exploited, and now diluted so much that modern society has marginalized meditation and many even trivialize its practice.
The ability to commune with their Source was a natural function of primitive peoples and it was only as intellect developed and a more outward focus was established that the ability to commune was lost. The separateness between humanity and its Source has reached a pinnacle and many are now seeking a return path back to the Source. The way back is a direct one. It is the re-learning of the ability for that lost communion which offers a profound depth and richness as inner and outer parts are reunited. Once the ability is regained through the various steps of meditation, life begins to take on new meaning, awareness and fulfillment.

MOTIVATION STORY

The other day my family and I were out for an evening walk. As we headed home, dark clouds started rolling in and we knew we probably wouldn’t make it back without getting wet. Sure enough, the rain started falling just as we entered our neighborhood. We all hurried down the street and into the house but when we got there I noticed that one of my sons was missing. I went back out in the rain and found him running in an erratic pattern in front of the house. His face was one of distress as he seemed to be going in circles. This is my child that typically hates getting wet.
I yelled to him, “What are you doing?!!”
“I hate getting wet!” he screamed back.
“Then why are you running around in the rain? Hurry inside!”
“I’m trying to but I have to dodge the rain drops!”
He was getting more soaked than any of the rest of us because he was trying to dodge the raindrops. As I went and put him under my arm and walked him inside, I realized that there is a good analogy in this story.
How often do you go through life “dodging the raindrops”?dont be afraid to fail
How often do you get so worried about the little failures or setbacks that might happen, that you miss out on the great adventures that you could be having? We can spend all of our time running around in circles trying not to fail or we can accept that failure is going to come and move forward anyway. Any happy and successful person will tell you that the road to success is paved with failures.
But every time you fail, you learn. Every time you learn, you improve. The more you improve, the more successful you will be.
Accept the fact that bad things are going to happen. Accept the fact that everything won’t always work out the way you want it to. Accept the fact that rain will fall and no amount of effort will help you avoid it.
If you can accept that but move forward in spite of it, you will find more sunny days than you ever expected.

POWER OF MIND

Let’s get to the basics of Mind Power. All physical reality is made up of vibrations of energy. Your thoughts too are vibrations of energy. This is not a concept or theory, but rather the startling new reality that quantum physics now reveals to us. Your thoughts have a powerful influence; they affect what happens to you. To know this is to know something great.
Most of us go through our waking hours taking little notice of our thought processes: how the mind moves, what it fears, what it heeds, what it says to itself, what it brushes aside. For the most part we eat, work, converse, worry, hope, plan, make love, shop, play, all with minimal attention paid to how we think. This is unfortunate, for we are neglecting one of the most important and powerful forces in our life.
Mind Power is directing your thoughts toward a desired outcome. Put simply, what you focus on you attract. Focus on success and you attract success. Focus on fear and failure and you attract failure. Mind Power is understanding these laws and making our thoughts work for us. Your thoughts the primary creative forces in your life. Use them consciously and use them often and you will awaken to a whole new life of power and opportunity.

A New Life Is But a New Mind

If you want to make changes in your life, you must look to the causes, and the causes are almost always the way you are using your mind — the way you are thinking. You cannot think both negative and positive thoughts at the same time. One or the other will dominate. The mind is a creature of habit, so it becomes each individual’s responsibility to make sure that positive emotions and thoughts constitute the dominating influence in their mind.
In order to change external conditions, you must first change the internal. Most people omit this step. They try to change external conditions by working directly on those conditions. This always proves futile, or at best temporary, unless it is accompanied by a change of thoughts and beliefs.
Awakening to this truth, the way to a better, more successful life becomes crystal clear. Train your conscious mind to think thoughts of success, happiness, health, prosperity, and to weed out negativity such as fear and worry. Keep your conscious mind busy with the expectation of the best, and make sure the thoughts you habitually think are based upon what you want to see happen in your life.
Water takes the shape of whatever container holds it, whether it be in a glass, a vase or a riverbank. Likewise, your mind will create and manifest according to the images you habitually think about in your daily thinking. This is how your destiny is created. A new life is created by new thoughts.

“The road of life is strewn with the bodies of promising people. People who show promise, yet lack the confidence to act. People who make promises they are unable to keep. People who promise to do tomorrow what they could do today. Promising young stars, athletes, entrepreneurs who wait for promises to come true. Promise without a goal and a plan is like a barren cow. You know what she could do if she could do it, but she can't. Turn your promise into a plan. Make no promise for tomorrow if you are able to keep it today. And if someone calls you promising, know that you are not doing enough today.”
